Arianna Goodrich

Equine Professional

Arianna's passion and connection with horses began as a young child. It all began with the horses she owned and cared for, both her own and those she rescued. Her twenty years of horse experience have inspired her to share the powerful healing that can be achieved through a relationship with horses. As a result, she is currently working towards her certification in Natural Lifemanship. With a deep commitment to helping others heal from traumatic experiences, she worked with youth survivors of human trafficking to gain self-trust and a sense of safety. Her work with youth undergoing complex
trauma has strengthened her dedication and commitment to helping others build strong relationships, adopt healthy coping mechanisms, and continue to heal through powerful equine relationships. One of her lifelong passions is guiding others on how to connect with their equine partners and themselves.

Carly Johns

Equine Professional, Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor

Carly brings over twenty years of experience as an equine professional to Pecan Creek Ranch. Her first ride in her home state of Georgia at the age of eight didn’t go as planned. She did, however, receive her first lesson in resilience as she learned what “getting back on the horse” truly meant. Carly believes that through a partnership with horses we learn resilience, empathy, patience, persistence, and authenticity. She has a passion for facilitating connections between horses and humans, so that they may both benefit from the relationship.

Carly’s success competing in hunter/jumpers as a youth earned her a scholarship to ride for the University of South Carolina, where she was a member of the three time National Championship winning hunt seat team, and captain of the 2007 National Championship Equestrian Team. After college, she headed west to Austin and started her career as an equine professional. Her students and their equine partners have been successful competitors at the local, national, and collegiate level. She has taken riders from their first foot in the stirrup, to their highest jump. They not only have learned the skills needed to be successful in the saddle, but have also benefited from all around horsemanship lessons that carry over to their lives outside of the barn. Carly teaches that all aspects of horse care can be beneficial, from practicing mindfulness observing their behavior, to learning responsibility cleaning a stall. While working at show barns throughout Austin, she also spent time volunteering as a therapeutic riding instructor.  Carly is a PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor (CTRI) and a certified Equine Specialist (ES) through EAGALA.  She is also trained in the Natural Lifemanship model, and working towards her certification. Carly is currently pursuing her masters in counseling and working towards becoming an LPC. Outside of the ranch, you can find her enjoying Austin’s vibrant live music scene or making her own scene as a self proclaimed karaoke queen.

What is Equine
Therapy?

76B8157C-9F54-4F01-A192-A66F124CF8F8.PNG

First and foremost, it is a professional human mental health treatment service. Equine assisted psychotherapy is an industry term used to describe psychotherapy that incorporates horses or other members of the equine family to assist in delivering professional mental health treatment for humans. What it means for you is a supportive, intuitive, and skilled team of humans and animals waiting to help you grow, heal , and recover heart, mind, body, and soul.
